The Interview - Process (Example Austria)

Police forces or forces of the toll company stop the lorries and lead them to the interview place.

When the lorry is approaching the interviewer notes the type of the lorry, the axle configuration, the nationality of the trailer and the type of the vehicle body.

“Good Morning, on behalf of the ministry of transport a survey on alpine crossing Transport is carried out. May I ask you a few questions? The interview will last a maximum of two minutes.”

“What is the empty weight and the total permissible weight of your lorry?”

“How much is the weight of the load?”

The answers are keyed into the computer device. Only values within a plausible range are permitted.

“What type of commodity is loaded?”

The interviewer classifies the commodity named by the driver according to a list of available commodities.

“Where is the place of loading or where did you start the journey!”

The interviewer searches the location in a list of localities (alphabetic order by country). If the locality is not available, he asks for the nearest important place.

“At which border crossing did you enter Austria?”

All possible boarder crossings can be selected from a list by the interviewer

“Where will the unloading or the end of the journey take place ?”

“At which boarder crossing will you leave Austria?”

Both questions are handled in the same way as above.

“What is the year of construction of the lorry?”

The interviewer notes, if there is a second driver or another adult person on board.

“Thank you for you cooperation, have a good trip!”

While the lorry is departing, the interviewer notes the UN-codification number, whether or not there is a plate for dangerous goods, whether or not the semi-trailer can be craned (relevant for combined transport) and the nationality of registration of the trailer.

After completing the interview, the interviewer takes a look at all answers on the display and has the possibility to make final corrections, before the next interview can start.
